Prescriptive Authority

Registrants who hold certification in Prescriptive Authority must comply with the BC Naturopathic Physicians Regulation and the College’s Scope of Practice for Naturopathic Physicians – Standards, Limits and Conditions for Prescribing Dispensing and Compounding Drugs.

Certification Requirements

To be certified in Prescriptive Authority, registrants must

1. have the status of full registrant under s. 46 of the College Bylaws;

2. successfully complete and pass The Canadian Therapeutics and Prescribing Course for Naturopathic Doctors offered by Therapeutics Collaboration Education

3. (a) complete and pass the examination from Therapeutics Collaboration Education for The Canadian Therapeutics and Prescribing Couse for Naturopathic Doctors – administered by CCNM-Boucher

OR

(b) complete and pass the examination from Therapeutics Collaboration Education for The Canadian Therapeutics and Prescribing Couse for Naturopathic Doctors – administered by CONO AND complete and pass the Jurisprudence Pharmacy Exam in BC – administered by CCNM-Boucher.

4. submit their application within 24 months of completing the aforementioned exam

5. have access to Pharmanet

6. hold current Naturopathic Advanced Life Support certification
